Questions

Everything people ask before signing up, answered plainly.

Is this a new inbox I have to check?

No, and that is the point. Your new address has no inbox of its own. Mail sent to it is handed straight on to the address you already read, usually within a few seconds. There is no second place to look and nothing new to log into.

Do I have to change my email address?

No. You keep using the same inbox, on the same phone, with the same app. The only thing that changes is the address you hand out.

When I reply, what does the casting director see?

By default they see the inbox your mail was forwarded to, which is not what you want. Five minutes of setup fixes that permanently and your replies then come from your acting address instead. The steps for every mail app are on the send as page.

Will it work with my Gmail / Apple Mail / Outlook?

Receiving works with absolutely everything, because a forward is just ordinary mail. Sending as your address works with Gmail, Apple Mail, the Outlook app, Thunderbird, Zoho and our own webmail. Outlook.com in a browser, Yahoo, Proton and iCloud.com will not do it - for those, send through our webmail instead. The full list is here.

How many addresses do I get?

Up to 3, and they can be on different domains. Most people take one for casting and one for representation.

Can I change where it forwards to later?

Yes, whenever you like, from your addresses page. The change takes effect immediately and the address itself never changes, so nothing you have printed goes stale.

What happens if I stop paying?

Nothing, because there is nothing to stop. It is one payment and there is no subscription behind it. Your addresses keep working whether or not you ever come back.

Do you read my mail?

No. Mail is passed straight through and not stored. There is no copy on our side to read even if we wanted to, and nothing is scanned or used for advertising.

What about spam?

A forwarded message arrives with its original sender intact, so your own inbox filters it exactly as it would filter anything else. Our server also refuses mail to addresses that do not exist rather than accepting and dumping it, which is what keeps the domains off the lists that matter.

Can I get an address on my own domain instead?

That is what a Web For Actors website gets you. Premium members get addresses on their own domain there and on our domains here, both included.

Can I take an address back if I remove it?

Removing an address puts the name back in the pool for anybody, so treat it as final. If you only want mail to go somewhere else, change the destination instead - that keeps the address yours.
